We are pleased to announce the renovation of the foundry at Torishima Pump Mfg. Co., Ltd. (Torishima), which has been undergoing significant refurbishment.
The completion ceremony was held on April 3, 2024 to commemorate the occasion.
1.Facility Overview
Location: 1-1-8 Miyatacho, Takatsuki City, Osaka Prefecture
Contents: Foundry facility
Commencement: April 3, 2024
2.Objectives
Torishima stands as one of the top pump manufacturers in the country. Possessing an in-house foundry forms the backbone of our integrated production system—from casting and processing to assembly, testing, and painting. To further propel growth and leveraging this core strength, we embarked on a significant overhaul of the foundry, the first in nearly half a century.
The revamped foundry now features upgraded seismic resilience, dust collection capabilities, along with automation to streamline hazardous tasks, such as working areas close to molten iron.. We’ve also introduced new equipment, including a 10-ton capacity high-frequency electric furnace and sand treatment facilities, to drive energy efficiency and increase manufacturing capacity. We anticipate an annual reduction of approximately 190 tons of carbon dioxide emissions.
With this major improvement, we anticipate a 1.5-fold increase in production capacity compared to our current levels. Moving forward, we’ll focus on strengthening the manufacturing of large and specialized pump components, shortening delivery times through in-house production, and driving cost efficiency.
The completion ceremony saw around 80 employees and other interested parties in attendance. Following rituals at the foundry, we concluded with a firing ceremony and the pouring of molten metal, marking a significant milestone for our company.
