Torishima has received an order for brine recirculation pumps for a large scale seawater desalination plant in Qatar from the Hitachi Zosen Corporation, who will be undertaking the construction of the plant.
This plant will use a hybrid desalination system composed of two different desalination processes: MSF (Multi-Stage Flash), an evaporation process and RO (Reverse Osmosis), a membrane process. The capacity is expected to amount to approximately 590,000 cubic meters per day.
Being the heart of the MSF method, Brine recirculation pumps are required to have high suction performance and high efficiency. Torishima’s double-suction vertical type brine recirculation pumps won the approval in these areas, resulting in the order.
With growing population and industrialization in emerging countries, the demand for pure water is inevitably increasing. Toshima plays a significant role in solving the water shortage as a leading pump manufacturer, and is committed to this project, drawing on its long experience and expertise in pumping technology.
