2015.09.10
Torishima has received an order for a total of 23 pumps for a water treatment plant capable of producing 360,000 m³/min water a day as pre-treated water for a desalination plant in Basrah, Iraq from OTV France.
OTV is an EPC contractor of water treatment facilities, and a subsidiary of VEOLIA, who is one of the “Water Barons” and dominates 80% of privatized water and wastewater utilities in the world.
This desalination plant is to take the water from a river, and Torishima pumps will be used for water intake, transmission and distribution applications.
Having constantly been devastated by conflicts, water facilities in Iraq are urgently in need of being repaired and developed. Especially in the southern part of the country, with low rainfall compared to the northern part, water shortage has been a serious concern.
We will continuously contribute to reconstruction and providing solutions for water shortage with pumps in Iraq, where new development schemes for water infrastructure are expected in the years to come.
