Torishima Europe Limited has received an order for Boiler Feed Pumps for Los Mina Combined Cycle Conversion Project.
TECNICAS REUNIDAS S.A (TR) is one of the most influential general contractors engaging in the engineering, design and construction of industrial facilities, especially in Oil & Gas, in the world.
They have many experiences in various fields all over the world, for example Saudi Arabia, South America and Europe. Torishima is pleased to work with TR for the first time.
Another special note is that this is the first time to export Torishima’s pump to Dominican Republic, which is located in the Hispaniola islands in the Caribbean Sea. Columbus took possession of this island in 1492 and later Spain constructed the first colonial city in New World. Los Mina Power Plant is near the capital city, Santo Domingo. The city is located in the south of the country and we still can see some buildings which is reminiscent of the Spain at that time.
The plant is a Simple Cycle Power Plant and two 105MW simple-cycle natural gas-fired turbines are in operation there. And it is operated by Dominican Power Partner which is subsidiary of AES Dominicana. The company and another subsidiary, AES Andress B.V. own and operate power generation units that have 555 MW of installed capacity. The number represents approximately 17% of the current total installed capacity in the country. Los Mina Power Plant plays an important role and sustains the people’s life.
The conversion enables the plant to increase its capacity from 210 MW to 324 MW without using additional gas. With regard to environment impact, it will reduce 330,000 tons of CO2 per year.
We hope to maintain a good relationship with TR to encourage good future business opportunities.
