Torishima Service Solutions FZCO has received the EPC project with MARAFIQ, the power and water utility company for Jubail and Yanbu.
The project is to design, manufacture, install, test and commission 2 seawater cooling pumps and all related mechanical, electrical, instrument and civil works for Jubail-2 main seawater cooling pumping station in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
The end user, MARAFIQ’s foundations were laid in the 1970s when the government established the Royal Commission to develop the two industrial cities of Jubail and Yanbu.
MARAFIQ is responsible for the operation, maintenance, management, construction, development, and expansion of the utility systems such as seawater cooling, seawater desalination, electric power generation, water transmission, and water distribution.
Jubail city on the Arabian Gulf coast is located about 500 km to the east of the capital city Riyad. Jubail has a double pipeline for transporting oil and gas, running almost 1200 kilometers across the Arabian Peninsula to Yanbu on the west Red Sea coast of the Kingdom.
The pumping station currently comprises of 3 existing pumps and the 2 new pumps, which are to operate in parallel with the 3 existing pumps to pressurize seawater for industries in Jubail, and will be provided with Variable Frequency Drives (VFD) to enable the systems efficient operation at various flow-rates according to the seawater cooling demand.
In addition, the major wetted parts are designed by using Super Duplex Stainless Steel to protect against the highly corrosive seawater in the Middle East.
The whole project is expected to be completed by June of 2016. We will satisfy MARAFIQ, maintaining a good relationship to encourage more future business opportunities.
