Torishima received an order of high pressure pumps and the booster pumps from ACCIONA Agua for a desalination plant which will be built near the Atacama Desert in the suburbs of Copiapo city in Chile.

ACCIONA Agua is a Spanish leading contractor who designs, constructs and operates water treatment plants and desalination plants. This order comes to the first order for us from the company.

Copiapo city has a long history of mining and more than 60 mining in operations. Its dry climate makes it an attractive agricultural area, and each year it gives the Chile’s first fruit harvest.

The new desalination plant will use RO, reverse-osmosis method and
fresh water produced there will be destributed throughout the mining area with an aim to solve the chronic water shortage.
High pressure water supply pumps play a vital role in RO desalination plants.
Torishima has a considerable experience and expertise in manufacturing and providing of the pumps all over the world,
and the proven performances and quality led to the order.

In South America, it has been planed to construct a number of RO desalination plants over the next years.

Torishima received an order of mini hydro generation facility for Kenya Embu water treatment plant from Hitachi Plant Technologies Ltd. It is one of the projects in “The Project for Improvement of the Water Supply System in Embu and the Surrounding Area” which is organized by Japan International Corporation Agency (JICA).

Its aim is to provide easy access to safe and sufficient amount of drinking water to people in Embu and its environs.
Lack of a reliable, safe and sufficient water service in the project area is one of the main obstacles for the area to be environmentally habitable, economically viable and socially acceptable. It is therefore indispensable to improve access to safe water and sanitation in the area.

A feature of Embu water treatment plant is a new concept whose electric source is covered by renewable energy with Torishima mini hydro generation. Hydroelectric equipment is eco-friendly utility as it has no use of fuel unlike diesel generator. All of the electric power used in the plant is supplied from the mini hydro generation and surplus electricity are supplied residents living in the area.
We hope that we can make a big contribution to the stable supply of electricity in Embu community.

Torishima is pleased to announce that renovation work of our high pressure pump shop was completed and a completion ceremony
was held on 4th August.

The primary objective of the renovation is to increase production and improve production efficiency of high pressure pumps for mainly power and seawater desalination plants. In order to formulate the system, the new shop is designed to improve the in-plant layout to ensure a smooth production line from assembly to testing to dispatch.

Our aim was to build a leading-edge pump shop where we can produce high efficiency multistage pumps for power and seawater desalination industries whose demand has been increasing rapidly in recent years.
Torishima is committed to continually improving both our design and manufacturing capabilities in boiler feed pump and high pressure RO pump applications. This new facility will provide an excellent platform for Torishima to grow in these two main markets.

Torishima pump mfg.co.,ltd. has established a locally-incorporated company in Haryana, India. We will strengthen our sales force of mainly boiler circulation pumps and boiler feed pumps for thermal power stations in the country.
With this new local company, Torishiama has made a positive step to enhance our marketing, sales promotion, aftermarket services and development of local procurement.
Now, the order intake comes to a total of over 200 pumps since we received an order from India for the first time in May 2007. We steadily have been increasing its market share in India. We are planning to open a maintenance workshop within a few years, and expand our service solutions business.

There were no injuries or casualties among our employees.
Status of Effects on Facilities
There was no damage on our production facilities as they are located in Osaka, western Japan,
approximately 700 kilometers from the earthquake region, and there was no serious damage at our sales offices affected by the earthquake.

About Effect of Rolling Blackout

Rolling blackout caused by the earthquake in eastern Japan does not affect our operation at production facilities since all of them are located in western Japan. Our production facilities are delivered enough electricity for operation.

Torishima Pump Mfg.Co.,Ltd. received orders for “The project for urgent rehabilitation of water supply system in the capital city Podgorica in Montenegro” conducted by Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).
We provide 4 water transmission pumps for Mareza 2 pump station and install a monitoring system for water utilities throughout the city.

The rehabilitation work will be excuted as follows

1. Replace pumps of Mareza 2 pump station without stopping water suply
2. Implement a precaution for vibration inculding pumps, buildings and plants with analysis technology
3. Design and constructuion of comprehensive monitoring system of human / machine interface with full graphic technology, open application software, supervised control system in order to condut monitoring of the entire city in a central contorl room.
4. Training for engineering staff of customer.

Torishima Pumps were recognized for the high efficiency, high skills of vibration analysis technology and experience in the installation of monitoring system in the Middle and Near East and Hong Kong.

The project is scheduled to be completed in March, 2012. We hope that our pumps will a big contribution to improve the water supply system in Podgorica, Montenegro.
